White Water Charters

Our Story

White Water Charters was born from a lifetime on the water and a deep passion for sharing the thrill of the hunt with anglers of all skill levels.

Captain Bryce Poyer grew up fishing the waters around Long Island, learning the craft from his grandfather who kept boats in both Shinnecock and Fire Island. What started as weekend work on party and charter boats during high school evolved into an extraordinary eight-year journey aboard private yachts, traveling the world from Venezuela to the Azores, from South America to Africa. These years fishing at the highest level—pursuing billfish, tuna, and trophy gamefish across the globe—shaped Bryce's approach to the sport: it's not about the catch, it's about the hunt.

When Bryce returned to the East End and founded White Water Outfitters in 2009, the vision was clear: create a tackle shop that doesn't just sell gear, but cultivates a community of passionate anglers. The charter business naturally emerged as an extension of this philosophy—a way to put knowledge into action on the water.

Today, White Water Charters operates as the perfect complement to White Water Outfitters. Whether you're a summer visitor seeking an unforgettable day on the water, a new boat owner learning the ropes, or an experienced angler ready to level up to offshore pursuits, we're here to guide you. Our approach is educational, patient, and focused on setting you up for long-term success—not just filling a cooler for a day.

For us, the best part of fishing isn't fighting the fish. It's the strategy, the hunt, the moment when everything comes together and you say, "There. That's your shot." That's what we live for, and that's what we want to share with you.

Meet The Team

Captain Bryce Poyer - Whitewater Outfitters and Charters

Captain Bryce Poyer
Founder & Captain

Bryce's fishing journey spans decades and continents. After cutting his teeth on Long Island party boats and working alongside his grandfather, he spent eight years as a professional mate on private yachts, fishing the world's most coveted waters. From six-week expeditions in Africa to blue marlin runs off Venezuela, Bryce has experienced fishing at its absolute pinnacle.

Since founding White Water Outfitters in 2009, Bryce has built a business around his core belief: the joy of fishing lies in the hunt, not the catch. On every charter, he focuses on teaching technique, reading water, and understanding fish behavior—skills that will serve you long after your day on the boat ends. When he's not on the water, you'll find him in the shop at White Water Outfitters, helping customers build their dream setups with the finest tackle available.

Captain Jeff Lomonaco
Captain & Store Manager

As the manager of White Water Outfitters, Jeff is often the first person customers meet when they walk through the door—and his enthusiasm for fishing is infectious. A lifelong angler with his license to captain, Jeff has carved out a specialty in light tackle and fly fishing pursuits.

Jeff runs the majority of our shallow water trips, including sight-fishing for stripers and targeting false albacore on light tackle. His approach emphasizes finesse and technique, making him the perfect guide for anglers looking to refine their skills in the backwaters and flats. An accomplished photographer, Jeff also captures many of the images that showcase the beauty and excitement of fishing the East End.
